The blast nozzle might look simple—but it's one of the most important components in your entire blasting system. The wrong nozzle can reduce productivity, increase abrasive consumption, and cause operator fatigue.
Types of Blast Nozzles

Venturi Nozzles
These are the industry standard. Their flared shape accelerates abrasive more efficiently, offering up to 100% greater productivity than straight bore nozzles. -
Straight Bore Nozzles
Great for spot work or confined areas. They offer more control but less velocity and coverage. -
Angle Nozzles
Designed to reach hard-to-access corners and inside surfaces, like tanks or box frames.
Maintenance Tips
- Inspect nozzle orifices regularly.
- Replace nozzles when the orifice wears by 1/16" or more—it can increase abrasive use and reduce pressure.
- Always store nozzles in padded containers to prevent cracking.
- Check for gasket leaks and improper alignment at coupling.
Material Matters
Nozzles are made of tungsten carbide, boron carbide, or silicon nitride. Boron lasts the longest but is more brittle. Choose based on your media and blasting hours.
Pro Tip
Track nozzle wear just like you track abrasive usage. If your media use spikes or surface finish degrades, your nozzle may be the cause.
